Youth Counselor

We are currently seeking qualified Youth Counselors to join our shift team and help us continue our mission. Youth Counselors provide supervision, support, guidance, and basic counseling to our clients in our Independent Living program.

-Ensure that all clients have basic needs met to thrive
-Provide oversight of milieu and ensure that all residents complete daily personal hygiene and maintain the cleaning of their clothing and living space.
-Comply with all Agency and Program policies, procedures, and protocols in a professional and ethical manner.
-Work to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of both clients and fellow staff at all times.
-Prepare and complete required reports and documentation as well as perform other required administrative tasks assigned.
-Participate in or facilitate group meetings and activities specific to program implementation.

-Comply with all Agency and Program policies, procedures, and protocols in a professional and ethical manner.
-Meets specific training requirements as outlined by MCO’s, DPW, and COA
-Medication administration
-CPR and First Aid
-Adheres to the seven commitments of the Sanctuary Model
-Appropriately performs Safe Crisis Management intervention techniques
-Includes both physical and nonphysical interventions
-Maintains the clean and sanitary conditions of the building and agency property
-Is knowledgeable of and implements ISP and client goals, program level protocols, and the clinical direction of the therapists with a trauma-informed care approach
-Facilitates clients groups effectively
-Completes all required documentation and administrative tasks in an appropriate and timely fashion.
-Completes incident reports prior to end of shift
-Completes Life Space Interviews appropriately
-Maintains clear and appropriate group notes, daily logs, medication logs, and progress reports
-Interacts with outside agencies in a professional manner

-Physical ability to perform all aspects of safe crisis management, including physical interventions.
-Ability to intermittently stand and sit.
-Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying as required.
-Must be able to describe and articulate events in both written and spoken English.
-Must be able to read and comprehend reports written in English.
-Ability to provide awake supervision of clients at all times.
-Ability to provide vehicular transportation of clients.
-Has the mental and emotional capacity to work in a highly stressful environment.

-One year experience working with children/youth in a residential treatment setting or other relevant experience preferred.
-Good written and verbal communication skills.
-21 years of age or older
-Must pass all relevant background checks
-Be sensitive to and comfortable with working in an agency that provides services to a culturally diverse population
