Strengthening Families Program 10-14 Facilitator

Certified SFP facilitators make a difference in families' lives that will last for generations to come! YOU can help parents learn valuable parenting skills, including the value of listening to their children; how to show love and set limits; and techniques to help keep their children out of trouble. Youth facilitators help kids ages 10-14 to discover how to reach their goals, appreciate their families, the value of following the rules, and how to deal with peer pressure.

The Children’s Home of York was established in 1865 to provide services to the orphans of the York County community and we continue to be unwavering in our commitment to improving the lives of children and their families through support, guidance, and education. We are fully licensed and accredited agency. The Children’s Home of York provides permanency services to Pennsylvania, maintains residential treatment and independent living programs and other services that directly affect the lives of children for the better. Our mission is to empower children to thrive, strengthen families, and enrich communities.

-Prepare for each session, reviewing activities and assembling needed materials.
-Prepare and complete required reports and documentation, as well perform other required administrative tasks as assigned.
-Maintain program fidelity.
-Facilitate youth or parent session each week for seven weeks and help facilitate the family sessions.
-Each facilitator should plan to spend at least 3 hours at the program site, arriving at least 30 minutes or more ahead of the program/meal to greet participants, and staying about 15 minutes to clean up and hold team debriefing meeting.

Essential Functions of the job:
-Ability to intermittently stand and sit.
-Ability to use the audiovisual equipment.
-Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying as required.
-Must be able to read and comprehend various Prevention Curricula.
-Must be able to read and comprehend reports written in English.
-Team player
-Commitment to program, team, and families.

-Complete an 24-hour Professional training by certified SFP Master Trainers for Parents and Youth 10-14. --Content and methods for the SFP 10-14 are presented and participants are given the opportunity to practice facilitating small segments of the program.
-Bachelor’s degree preferred but relevant life experience will be considered.
-21 years of age or older.
-All required clearances: PA Child Abuse; FBI, PA Criminal and CPSL Mandated Reporter.
-Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

MUST be available 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, July 16, 17 and 18, 2018 for facilitator training to be considered for this position. A stipend will be provided for training time. With the beginning of the school year, the position is 4-12 hours per week for 7 weeks per session.
